These 7 words form the basis of our mission (based upon a
story in the Bible known as the Walk to Emmaus). Each day offers us new opportunities to journey together
through life and faith, to be surprised by the presence of the living Christ in
our very midst, and to find our spirits overflowing with energy and
excitement! We are continually
growing in our faith and welcome all who seek to do the same.

“Openly
Inviting,
Unconditionally Loving,
Actively Growing,
Imaginatively Exploring”
These four short, action phases hold a depth of meaning for us. They reflect our passion for reaching out to new people, our dedication to being a welcoming and comfortable place for all, our focus on living as people of grace, our intention to be growing in our faith instead of molding in the pews, our openness to new ideas and ways of being church, and much more. We aim to be a place of spiritual vitality, with messages you can use in your daily life, and experiences which continually bring you hope. Through Christ, we celebrate that each day is a brand new day!
Why aren’t you in a regular church building?
New Day meets in an office-like building next to the Big Lake Library and right across the street from the Independence Elementary School because 1) we like being in the heart of activity for young families, and 2) we are a young church start. We opened the doors in September 2009. Besides, regular church buildings are everywhere; New Day knows that many people want something different and new.

So what’s different and new about New Day?
That will depend on what you consider “normal” (are you used to worshipping in a cathedral or a bar?). Let’s just say, when you walk in for the first time, expect to feel at-home (not at the dentist’s office); expect to find a church of the future, not of the past; and expect to be engaged at whatever level you are comfortable (instead of passively entertained or lost in the crowd).
New Day is a United Methodist Church. For a more complete look at what this means, we encourage you to visit the following websites:
